The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy is in charge of running programs that protect and improve the quality of the Province's water, land, and air; making sure that the Province's ecological systems stay relatively abundant and diverse, both inside and outside of protected areas; and running the Province's parks and recreation programs. Six departments make up the Ministry: Parks and Protected Areas, Environmental Protection, Environmental Sustainability, the Climate Action Secretariat, the Conservation Officer Service, and Strategic Policy.  The Ministry gets help with company finances, IT/IM, and strategic human resources from the company Services group, which works with natural resource ministries.

The Conservation Specialist creates, coordinates, and advises on ecosystem conservation, restoration, and management in parks and protected areas.  Conservation specialists help their areas identify critical conservation management actions for Annual Management Plans and provide advice, information, and expertise to the Parks and Protected Areas department and regional planners. The positions communicate with park and protected area stakeholders, volunteers, contractors, and others managing or constructing.   The posts communicate with the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations & Rural Development ecosystems staff on general conservation objectives and how parks fit into them.  As needed, the jobs support headquarters conservation policy development and manage program performance measurements, targets, and reporting.

• A bachelor's degree or higher in biological studies is required.
